If you were enrolled as a Part-time Degree student between Winter 2020 and Winter 2021 you have been inappropriately charged the CESAX (formerly CESAR) fee due to an inadvertent fee assessment by X University (Ryerson University). Part-time Degree Students taking more than three courses in the Winter 2020, Spring/Summer 2020, Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 terms were inadvertently charged at the full-time rate. This has resulted in an inadvertent extra charge between $2.00 and $20.00 in each term – depending on course-load.

CESAX and the Vice-Provost Students Office identified this issue and determined to refund all fees that were mistakenly collected. All students affected by this issue have been contacted with instructions about the process to receive their refund.

The issue has been resolved, so moving forward the overcharges will no longer occur.

Fees for Winter 2020, Spring/Summer 2020 and Fall 2020

Students currently enrolled

Winter 2021 students who are currently enrolled in courses will have a credit issued to their RAMSS account. To view the adjustment, you may log into your Student Centre on RAMSS (my.ryerson.ca), then select ‘Account Inquiry’.  Detailed instructions are available on the RAMSS Support – Student Fees Inquiry web page

If you presently have fees owing on your student account, the adjustment has been automatically applied towards your account balance. If the adjustment has resulted in a credit, you may request a refund, or use the credit towards future educational costs.

Students who have graduated or ceased their enrollment

If you have graduated or ceased your enrollment at X University (Ryerson University), then it is likely that you may not be using your RAMSS account. CESAX will be contacting you at the email provided by X University (Ryerson University) with the option to fill out form to get your refund. CESAX will then process refunds through e-transfer.

Because of the size of the refund, students will also have the option to donate funds into the CESAX Emergency Grant fund. Students have until December 31, 2021 to claim this refund. All unclaimed refunds will then be placed in the CESAX Emergency Grant fund.

Please check your email for the form or contact executivedirector@mycesax.ca if you did not receive. The first email will be sent soon.
